Mondays 7.30 PM- 9.30 PM @ 12 Lynton Gardens, N11 2NN
A laboratory for vocal improvisers with some experience and confidence to explore the joys and edges of small-group vocal play.
This is a space for experimentation, curiosity, and musical mischief—where voices meet, blend, surprise and discover new ways.
We’ll move through games, guided explorations, and structured prompts that open up everything, from free sound worlds and rich textures to grooves, circlesinging, and conducted forms.
Together we’ll practice listening deeply, responding with freedom and confidence, and sparking each other’s creativity.
There will be opportunities to expand your vocal language, sharpen your rhythmic sense, and stretch your sense of musical possibility.
A friendly, steady group offers the safe container, with a mix between a core of regular atendees and occasional drop-ins.
The Labs aim to support participants to:
Reconnect with intuitive, ancestral ways of singing together that nurture self-expression and strengthen community.
Learn structures and prompts, and practice different ways of co-creating, relating, and responding musically.
Deepen the use of invented language and words: musical articulation, variety, storytelling and texture.
Understand musical form — shapes, patterns, and the compositional aspects of improvisation.
Develop each participant’s unique, confident expressive voice: vocal freedom, flexibility, authenticity, and exploration of many possibilities.
It’s possible to book individual sessions as a drop-in, or to receive discounted rates when booking the full term, a half-term or block of 4 sessions. Please confirm your dates from the drop-down menu when booking.
